We were commissioned to complete a construction progress survey of a small development using photogrammetry to create a digital twin.

The provision of this level of detail enables a real assessment of progress and even some breaches in on site working practice can be highlighted.

The collected data is survey grade, meaning that measurements and locations can be taken and confirmed from within the data.

  • Equipment

    The Wingtra One drone with the oblique camera was a key enabler for this work. With its high quality sensors, survey grade GNSS, vertical take off and relatively high operating speed it enabled very efficient capture of the data onsite.

  • Ground Control and Checkpoints

    Ground control and check points were established across all the whole site using survey grade GNSS. Given the location and type of ground this involved a lot of walking.

  • Processing Capability

    We used the industry leading Bentley Context Capture for photogrammetry processing of the captured data. Bentley excels in the creation of accurate and clear 3D mesh data. Screen captures of these processed models are so good they can be mistaken for photographs on first viewing.
